Overview
The calendar was designed for Summerset Retirement Village residents and staff as a practical, everyday communication piece. Alongside its functional purpose, it provided an opportunity to visually reflect aspects of village life, including residents, staff, and shared community spaces.
This project formed part of a wider body of in-house design work created for Summerset, spanning print, signage, internal communications, and environmental graphics.
Context
Working within an established brand system, the calendar needed to balance clarity, usability, and consistency with Summerset’s broader visual identity. It was intended for daily reference within residential and office environments, requiring strong legibility and a structured layout.
The content was developed around imagery of real village life, reinforcing a sense of familiarity and connection for residents and staff.
Approach
The design prioritised clarity and structure, ensuring dates, events, and imagery were easy to navigate at a glance. A restrained layout system was used to support readability across all months while allowing space for photographic content.
Imagery played a central role, showcasing residents, staff, and village environments to reflect everyday life within Summerset communities. Typography and spacing were kept consistent to maintain functionality and visual calm across the full year.
Outcome
The final calendar is a practical, community-focused design piece that supports daily use while reflecting the people and environments within Summerset villages. It applies a consistent design system across a functional print format.
