Overview
This publication is a research-led response to Studio Pacific Architecture, developed through visual and contextual study of their practice, office environment, and built work in Wellington. The project was not commissioned or used by the practice, but instead formed as an independent design exploration.
The design draws on key themes identified through research, including Pacific influence, structure, simplicity, and an emphasis on natural and environmentally conscious design approaches.
Context
Studio Pacific Architecture is a Wellington-based architecture practice known for its considered, context-driven approach to design. This project was developed after visiting their studio and observing their built and working environments, forming the basis for a visual interpretation of their design philosophy.
Approach
The publication translates key research themes into a cohesive visual system. A muted green-blue palette references Pacific and environmental qualities, while organic forms are used to reflect natural structure and flow.
Material and typographic decisions reinforce these ideas, including eco-conscious paper stock, embossing for tactility, and a combination of Garamond and Ubuntu for clarity, legibility, and contrast between structured and natural qualities.
Outcome
The result is an exploratory publication that interprets the design values of Studio Pacific Architecture through typography, material, and layout. It functions as a speculative study rather than a commissioned identity, translating architectural principles into editorial form.
